Organicle.

It makes them look more real in my opinion. Well as real as a bio-mechanical creature based off a toy can get.

I've always seen them as purely robotic, probably because I'm such a huge fan of the way the sets look.

I think the best looking kind of movie would be one made in the style of the old animated episodes from MNOLG, kind of more like an anime movie instead of the more realistic animation they have been trying to use.

I think of Bionicle characters as mostly robotic, not purely. But I also love the way the sets look, and that's why I like the movie characters to look like the sets. I became interested in Bionicle because the sets looked cool, so that's what I would want to see in a movie about them, charcacters that look like the sets I'm a fan of, not organic characters that look almost nothing like the sets I like.

Also, I think it would be an awesome idea to make a movie in the style of MNOG, too. Or maybe even an animated series of Bionicle would be cool.

The more set-like style of the new movie rather irritates me; it makes the characters harder and harder to believe in (if it weren't for Warf and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the movie, I don't know what I'd do) and relate to.

It's hard to say for me, on one hand the organic stuff looks enough like the sets, and doesnt look half bad, on the other hand the set based movie looks just as believable but the story seems kinda off and cleche, more so than the organicle movies.

It cconfuses me if the organic versions of the characters are most cannon, or the toy version, or it this a matter of both being cannon, since you could build robots like the organic and the inorganic?

Didnt greg once say the matoran had been transformed by makuta and they rebuilt themselves, so maybe is a similar thing, or the Agori planet and it's residents are just built differently as they are a whole universe (or galaxy?) apart?
Ive been with bionicle for a while, while I wasnt there from the start Ive ebayed for some of the originals from when the story was apparently the best.

Well with the way that the books and comics are written I would guess that most of the canon resembles the organic forms the most.

I personally like 'set like style', because when its organic. Masks has mouths, that looks like chickens and toa has underwears, and they look more human than bionicle.

Set-Like, but organic is cool, I would love a mix of the two.

I thought the last movie was a pretty good enterpretation of the sets as characters, though some of the little odds and ends were distracting. As for a combination of inorganic and organic style, Id want the overall style to lean towards inorganic, resembeling the sets more acuratley without a lot of artistic liberties (or as much as the other ones did), but enough liberty to make it look like the character could really be a living thing with a metal exterior and not just a walking toy.

Organic, although they [the characters] should have different colours of organic tissue other than purple.

Organic, because the sets annoy me with their lack of posability in one particular area: their inability to touch their own heads. No bionicle, based on an inika torso, can touch its own head without moving their head forwards. In the movie: no problem. It's a small but irritating fact, like the constantly rotating pins, that puts me off of the set-based movie. If the set can't do it, then nor should the movie character. Case and point: Radiak. In the lego catalogue and on many of his pictures, Radiak's legs have been photoshopped on so badly that they are obviously not connected in any way.

Besides that, I think that the movie representation of the Nuva should have been completely robotic, as their biological parts supposedly rotted away while they drifted in their canisters.
It's not illegal, it's just cheating.

I'm into exam time right now... I'll be checking up frequently, but I don't expect to be posting in the next two weeks or so unless something really catches my eye.

Nulled. Both look superb-- if they're done right.

I recall an animation of Antroz that was done set-style but looked absolutely realistic. That was an example of set-done-right.

For the record, their organic parts came back when their bodies fused. ;D

Set like! Organic just looks creepy. Kanohi aren't suppose to flex with the wearers expression! (Except possibly the Inika's Kanohi  ) I think The legend reborn did the characters perfectly. To bad they couldn't have had a better protagonist, like Mazeka. :)

Neither; I disliked both. The organic 85% machine people and the mechanical 15% machine people.

Seriously, the animation styles were totally mismatched. :P

Well, I'm more for set like. Organic is enteresting, and really adds to the BIOLOGICAL CHRONICLE aspect, but I guess I just like how the sets look.

Organic, it follows the fact the bionicle are BIOMECHANICAL beings..also i disliked that in TLR they treated Duma as a robot...while hes just a warrior(organic) with mechanical implants...

While the designs could have been improved a bit here and there, the "realistic" look is definitely the best for me. Animated LEGO sets are nice to a certain extent, but I much prefer the characters in their "full glory". Sets look so unnatural and... stilted.
